We as Baphumelele, the Management, the Staff and Children would like to thank you very greatly and acknowledge receipt of the monetary donation of R 45,577-00 on the 6 th February 2024 , the donation came at the right time when we needed such help, may God’s richest blessings be with all the people who have contributed, This kindness and generosity will bring smiles to all the children in our orphanage, and we would like you to know that we are humbled and highly appreciated what you all have done for these orphans at Baphumelele. Your contribution will impact these young, innocent children, whose lives have all been impacted by many things including HIV/Aids pandemic rampaging in our country – they are orphans or they have been abandoned by dying parents, they have been dumped as little babies or they are HIV-positive themselves, one way or other, they have all already experienced death, disease, abuse, neglect and hunger in their still so young lives.
In 1989, Rosalia "Rosie" Mashale, a teacher, moved to Khayelitsha, disturbed by children scavenging for food. She began caring for them, founding Baphumelele Educare Centre, now a crèche for 230 children. It expanded into Baphumelele Children’s Home and other community initiatives, supporting many, including those affected by HIV/AIDS.
